Welcome! I’m Jennifer McIntee-Leinweber, R. Psych, and I have many years experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of capacities.

  • American Trained EMDR Therapist

  • Gottman Method Couples Therapist (Level 2)

  • Emotion-focused Therapy- Externship Trained

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy Provider

  • Cognitive-Behavioral Conjoint Therapy for PTSD (Couples or other dyads)

Who do you work with? I work with people of all ages (8+) and couples. Since none of us live in a vacuum, areas of focus often include relationships, communication patterns or dynamics with others.

What is your educational background? I have spent a lot of time in school (some might say too much time!). Some of my formal education includes:

  • Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (Yorkville University)

  • Bachelor of Education (University of Calgary)

  • Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (University of Calgary)

  • Post-graduate certificate in Addiction Education (McMaster University)

What is your style? I am calm, genuine and down to earth. I aim to make the process of reaching out to someone as seamless as possible. I understand that change can be tricky and that pace is important so I aim to walk-alongside you as you engage in your counselling journey. I check in with you at the end of each session to find out your “takeaways” and I welcome open dialogue to ensure that we are moving in a direction that is helpful and meaningful for you.

So, what is your story? I worked as a teacher and school counsellor in the public education sector for about 17 years. Registering as a psychologist has allowed me the opportunity to directly use my clinical counselling and formal assessment skills and work more deeply with clients. When I am not at work, I love spending time with my family and enjoy being outside as much as possible. I am a novice triathlete and have completed several sprint triathlons, and I also have a long-time love of horses and animals.
